traffic lights= elyte /etyle

cockroach = coco /(now )cocos

Avyaan = Amiya (friends name)

22.5 months old Hridaan

Its 2nd wave of corona virus going on and we are still having lockdown in many parts of the country. I am also avoiding going to public and crowded places.

Now its been more than a year of living this not normal life. So I am kind of used to of this and accepted. What scares me is – “What about the tiny head at my home” He is nearing two and brain is developing super fast. He needs to see whats around.

so we decided to take him out for a drive within the car. It was night time when we went around 2 weeks ago for the first time. I showed him different cars, bike., I was expecting some street dogs as well but seems even they have locked themselves. Then i showed him traffic lights.
red light means stop

green light means go.

at first i thought it might be difficult for him to understand. Traffic , lights, cars, transport, road all was bit new to him. But immediately at the next signal he was hyperexcited to see traffic lights.
for our half and drive he was constantly jumping and saying “etyles-etyles” throughout. And i hardly had any clue what he was saying.

Next day i saw Hridaan saying red -stop , red lite stop. And again saying “etyle”. That moment i understood “etyle” is traffic light. I was surpised how he remembers. Even now everytime we take him out he enjoys traffic lights. Cars stopping on colors, 2-2 traffic lights somewhere.

there is so much around us and these toddlers learn everything really fast

Parents really wait to listen to their baby’s first words. Those unclear, sweet, low volume mamma ,dadda ,papa , ma Simply melts the heart.

Our baby took little longer to achieve the speaking milestone. We used to look around one year olds blabber, trying to make words or say initials while ours was just shouting yelling and talking to crows. Yes talking to crows. I think his first word was “CO”.

Hridaan was 17months old and hardly communicated using words. It was only actions that he used. Few words he spoke would be “co e” Meaning ‘crow eat’. We heard DADA , DAI = Daddy sometimes. But not always.
Once or twice he even said “pomona “(= pomegranate) “tattu” (=tomato) but never used these frequently.

We were worried but then we saw some examples of babies who didnt even talk Till age of 2 years and it’s absolutely OK.

our paediatrician suggested if Hridaan is able to make 5-6 months by age of 18months is great and his development is quite normal. And yes ! He was making more than that.

This is what we can try to make baby talk easily.

-give them small words

-talk slowly

-talk to them a lot

-tell them about each and everything you are doing

-show them things around

-let them associate words with things

-appreciate when they say something before correcting
